Help us raise funds for a dog in need of multiple surgeries after being beaten with a shovel while she was a stray, covered in mange and hear worm positive.
Her name is Chloe and her story is one that makes me want to do right by her! She is a 3 year old Golden Retriever/ Husky mix at best guess. She was rescued by a small but mighty rescue who spent the time and funds to treat her mange, her heart worm and tried to find her a home for one and a half years with no luck as she had shown behavior concerns.
This is how she came to find me, Heather. I was her last hope to connect with someone and prove that she could be adopted into a home that would set her up for success. The request for the initial service of one week boarding and evaluating was to "touch her without getting bit". Not only did she never show my household aggression but within 4 hours was cuddled up on the floor with my son and I. She has since made friends with countless dogs and many people. It is not often than an animal does not feel at home with me, but I believe that this is the first time that Chloe has ever felt at home.
After x rays confirmed my suspicions, it was confirmed that Chloe needs both hips to have surgery to take her out of chronic pain AND she needs an MRI to confirm if her spine can ever be fixed due to the damage done by her being beaten with a shovel prior to being saved. The estimate from CSU ranges for the MRI from $4500-$5500 and upwards to $6500 at Wheatridge Animal Hospital. On top of her spinal and hip surgeries Chloe also needs a dental to remove all of her front small teeth that have broken off in pieces as a potential result from trying to chew her way our of fending when she was young. The total estimate with-out knowing the exact need of surgeries until the MRI is completed is around $12K. Yep, that is correct- twelve thousand dollars.
Chloe is in chronic pain so she is on a pain management plan that must be renewed every two weeks and she is on supplements to help her in joint support.
We need donations to help cover these costs and resources to get these services provided at a lesser cost, one thing that I will not do is risk Chloe's care over costs. But if we can find quality care at a lesser price I will be grateful.
Donations can be made in her honor to https://www.mgarcolorado.org/donate and if specified for her all funds will go directly to her care.
